How to change a black hair dye?

Removing black hair dye is always a difficult process so it is always best for you to consult with your hairdresser. To change from black hair dye to a different color you will first need to strip the black from your hair.

Probably the best will be to have regular cuts and wait until your hair grows out the black hair dye.

If you try stripping the black by adding bleach/peroxide highlights regularly, your hair might end up in pretty bad condition. If you eventually already done that, you should take intensive care of your hair using professional conditioners and avoiding heat based stylings.

If you have a full head if bleach you will probably end up with mid brown hair with golden highlights.

To achieve red/mahogony colour you're going to need to strip the black once, maybe twice and then add the new colour over the top. Bear in mind your roots will colour at different rate to the rest of your hair, as the end have been processed and will be more porous, thus taking up more colour. Be sure to condition your hair well afterwards too.

Yet again, for your best, consult your hairdresser first and keep in mind, that changing from black hair dye to any other hair color, takes a lot of time and requires a lot of patience, and intensive hair care afterward.
