Striking Mix of Bold Colors

Ok, I have to admit that this design in the bold colors of red, black, white and silver are extremely striking together. The design is new for me and I’ve taken a mix of different techniques to combine and put this piece together. And so far it’s begun to be a big hit and I’ve been asked to create more in different colors and styles!

The necklace focal center is designed to stay stationary on either a silk cord or a ribbon cord. I’ve used in this case a large chunk of coral (dyed) in a thick oval shape; then surrounded it in single coils. To accent the pendant, I’ve hand charmed 36 pieces different shapes of stones coral, freshwater cultured pearls, black agate, and Swarovski crystals; between I’ve added a couple of double spiral coils and then capped the entire piece into a stationary position with wired coils and swirls that becomes part of the design.

The whole piece is quite labor intensive taking quite a bit of time to design, mix/match colors and stones, then hand charm each one and either wire, bail or get creative with the pendant. The matching earrings are the same double coils and stones from the necklace – all wire is done in non-tarnish silver wire.

Cluster of Crystals & Dichroic Glass

This is a different and new design in that it is a melt of different techniques. It starts with a focal pendant in dichroic glass from one of the premier glass artists in San Antonio; soft shades of lime green, gold, pink and cream set against a black background.


Surrounding the pendant are 36 individually hand-charmed pieces; in accents of faceted Swarovski crystals hot pink padparadscha and glass pearls in complimenting colors of cream, mauve, copper, tan, and metallic green crystals. Between are hand-swirls spirals in non-tarnish brass wire and non-tarnish brass spiral ends for accents. It is set stationary onto the silky 18” tan cord and has matching dangle cluster earrings.

Swarovski Crystal Beauty

When it comes to crystals in the world, no one does it better than Swarovski. The beautiful cuts, shapes, sizes and colors that revel beyond the rainbow; if you are looking for one of the widest selections of Swarovski crystals components, give Art Beads a try. This selection of crystals in polygons are one of my favorites, the long slender sleek look of the bead highlighted by Swarovski’s cut makes this one almost a two-tone in the light Colorado topaz (one of my favorite colors); the Olivine is a great compliment for fall colors in the deep hues of color.

A first for to my color of Swarovski crystals is the cosmic oval ring; here in Tabac, every which way you turn it there is color of all kinds; deep colors of the night almost. These will look great as dangle components to earrings (keep watching, they’ll appear soon!).


Everyone has the regular staple of roundel, bicone and rounds in Swarovski; these just arrived in a Period, dark Indigo which is a stunning color of midnight, and a new one in Red Magma; all these can be mixed into any jewelry design as an accent or a major piece of the earrings.


A wide selection of pendants and these are no exception in brilliant colors of Golden Shadow and Silver Shade briolette; mix with the bicones or cosmic ovals and you will have dazzling design for earrings.

Glass pearls are great to work with; they are light weight and come in a variety of dyed colors. Here I’ve used them in a twisted wire bracelet design and finished of with Swarovski Crystals and silver toggles.

Dichroic Pendant Pearls Quartz Crystals

Sail into spring with this lovely little number; wear it as a casual accent topping of that adventure or to dress up that spring attire for a day or evening on the town.

Streaming in shades of yellow and brassy gold; set off by a focal pendant of dichroic glass in dramatic shades of gold, greens and blues; pulling the colors of the Caribbean waters in Swarovski crystals of blue, cantaloupe (which changes colors with the refraction of light) and light yellow jonquil. Nestled between teardrops of freshwater cultured pearls in light and dark yellowish gold, butterscotch Quartz nugget gemstones and handcrafted links and toggle in non-tarnish brass wire. Some of My Favorites

This week I’m looking back over the past year and thinking of the many different designs that were created. Every one is pretty much a ‘favorite’ but others still were harder to ‘sell’ and let go. In looking at the all the photo’s and pondering how they were created, I thought I would share a few of my favorites through-out the week.

Turquoise and Pearls
These two pieces are among the top favorites on my list and are in Turquoise and Pearls.

The first is a dramatic piece and a first attempt at working with pearls and multi-strands. I mixed fresh water cultured pearls with turquoise teardrop gemstones; intermixed with Swarovski Crystals in copper surrounded by copper metal spacers. For the earrings I took individual turquoise and charmed each of the pearls to the upper portion of the earring. It gave the earring a multi-dangle effect while still looking classy to complete the set. This lovely piece found a home with a very nice lady who saw the piece and said she wanted that piece exactly to complete her outfit to a friends wedding later that week. She liked the fact that it has a stylish and classy look, yet could also be worn more casual with jeans and a jacket.

The second piece is a long large turquoise marquee pendant wire wrapped in bronze artistic wire. This was also a first attempt at traditional wire wrapping and was a lone pendant until I got the idea to set it with a strand of single fresh water cultured pearls. I hand coiled both side pieces and then pulled separate wires through to form the ‘frame’ that the turquoise pendant would sit in. Once completed, I hammered the spirals just to give a little bit of depth around the bail; which was made just large enough so that it could be removed and worn with something else and the pearls worn separately. It really was like getting 2 necklace pieces in one! The lovely lady that bought this loves turquoise and loved the unique wire wrap of coils and the fact that it wasn’t in silver.
