Best of 2010 from our Southwest Flair Collection

Our Southwest Flair collection is an array of natural stones such as turquoise, bamboo coral, magnesite, onyx, and spiny oyster just to name a few. Many of the styles reflect classic traditions of the southwest, while others take on a little modern and trendy look but still focusing on the use of the southwest or indian stones. Here’s a look back at this year’s Best/Favorites for 2010.

Three strands of natural turquoise chips and tiny onyx tube stones surround slender rare and exotic Arizona ivoryite stones and a hint of silver metals between. This is a favorite with the bold colors of turquoise in green, brown, black, rust and a hint of blue in some of the stones; set against strong smooth ivoryite.

A little bit of bold statement in sold red colors starting with red (dyed) coral disks, a large sponge coral pendant; between are beige/red colored lampwork rondelle beads and a mass of antique brass wire mess balls. I used two remaining mess wire balls with a hint of coral as earrings to add a little ‘funky’ to the set.

Here is where classic meets modern starting with a large marquee shaped beige faceted crystal pendant, charms of crystals in the bail and through-out and then I’ve added big nuggets of turquoise, medium rounds and cloisonne beads to finish the necklace.

A bold silver pewter square pendant that is textured, then added rare and exotic Arizona ivoryite and long square turquoise nuggets with a hint of red (dyed) coral and a little more silver pewter barrels and you get a very traditional southwest looking design.

Hot New Mix in Red

This new design uses some of the new lampwork beads we just picked up in Tucson. It’s all about the red with this design, and lots of it! Using a Sponge Coral ax style pendant, we mixed it up with some swirled beige/cream/red rondelle lampwork beads, red hot natural Coral, and for something different kicked it up a notch by adding copper accents.

This one definitely says...Red, hot and spicy!

See this and many other new designs in our designer collections.

A Whole New Set of Collections

Ring in the New Year and with it a whole new reflection of jewelry designs. As you can tell, we’ve spent some time the past year re-designing and developing our blog, website and our line of custom jewelry. What we are did, is truly reflect what our jewelry does, make a statement with a cutting-edge flair all our own. We’ve never been one to ‘color within the lines, more like color outside the box’! In looking over our jewelry, it has evolved into different Collections all with their own style and fashion, reflecting the personalities of our clients; we’ve just taken it a step up this year. Here’s what’s new at Timeless Designs…..

Every Collection will have a variety of pieces, from necklaces, sets, bracelets, pendants and even earrings; no more looking through jewelry categories. Not only will we offer Collections, but there we’ll be offering some raw materials for those who want to make their own jewelry and also a small line of different collars, chains, ribbons, and cords to pick from if you wanted something else to go with any pendants.

Southwest Flair; this collection will house our designs that have a Southwest Flair, most designs cultivated with Turquoise, Coral, Magnesite, Howlite, and many different metals, just to name a few. The styles will be anything from traditional Southwest to a mix of ‘Old West Meets Modern West’.

Mystic Artisan; where mystery clashes with high-end elegance in chic, edgy, classy, and even flirty designs that reflect that personality all ones own; many design will be refined using Agates, Jaspers, Onyx, Pearls, Crystals, Dichroics, and many more.

Wiry Legends, pretty much says it all as this collection will be the home to anything that has been created using mainly wire such as links, twists, swirls, and cones but will also include chain and other metal mainstream components too.

Rock Yard is a new one to our studio; this will be the place to find fossils, minerals, and chunky raw rock pieces, chose from single pendants to funky, chunky and hip brews made to order. You just never know what you might find hiding in this collection.

Supply Closet will be the place for those of you who do your own jewelry designs to find raw materials and create your own pieces. Eventually, Supply Closet will also be the place to find extra chains, collars, cords, and ribbons for purchase to mix and match with any pendants.

So, get going and check out our newly re-designed website, see what’s available for purchase or browse around to get acquainted with Timeless Designs.

Denim Lapis Red Coral

A stone from nature that is lighter than Lapis Lazuli is Denim Lapis. Much lighter than the deep blues of lapis lazuli, denim lapis is lighter in color and has ‘floating’ shades of cream or white. It is just as pretty as the blues sometimes appear to be ‘flecks’ of blue surrounding the white clouds.

This new design from the studio is from Denim Lapis, with beige ceramic beads and a ‘pop’ hint of red Coral, scattered Sterling Silver beads and pewter end caps. A smart design that says ‘sassy, flirty, classy’ all in one flattering piece!

This is many others of nature’s creations available on the website.

What's in a Necklace Length

Wondering what length of necklace fits you? Many people just wear whatever looks good and that usually works. Then there are others that only wear a certain style or length, depending on what is ‘hip ‘n hot’ or the trendy, stylish, and chic. If you’re wondering what those different lengths are, read on…..

Choker Style: A choker is generally 15”-16” long and lies up next to your neck. Chokers look really nice with open necklines; round or v-shaped tops.

Princess Style: A princess length is 18”-20” long and lies lower than the choker style. With this style, it more of a relaxed length and works really well with high necklines, such as turtlenecks; or for a different look, wear it with a really low neckline dress or shirt. This style is also great for double-stranded necklaces.

Matinee Style: A matinee necklace is 23”-27” long and usually falls lover over a blouse and works great with layers of jackets or blazers. Matinee length allows freedom to design very striking multiple stand necklaces.

Lariat Style: The lariat length varies from short 36” to as long as 42”. This gives a very flowing and long line for necklaces; can end with charms or pendants.

Whatever your style, wear what looks and makes you feel best! For many different necklaces in these styles, browse and purchase from our website.

Spicy Bling in Copper

This spicy hot design is highlighted by the glass lampwork beads in swirls of grey, brown, black/blue, yellow/gold, and browns just to name a few. Copper accents between white natural Magnesite gemstone nuggets and crystals; copper toggle and dangle earrings in the same stones finish off the sassy set.

Magnesite promotes relaxation and a positive attitude to life. It removes negative feelings, reduces oversensitivity and said to lift depression.

Traditional Gemstone Meanings

Throughout time, history and folklore gemstones have been very sought after objects. Aside from being beautiful and luxurious they have been known to carry life energy. Each stone carries many different properties or meaning. They have been used throughout the world to attract luck, love, wealth, stability, and health. Gemstones are also powerful additives in meditation. The gem a person picks out is not just because one stone brings you protection; it may not be as well received to another. Each person will react differently to the stones they choose to wear or use in meditation. Keep that in mind when choosing a stone for a specific reason gets a feel for it before you use it. Here are some of the most common gemstones and their meanings.

Agates: Balancing physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual energies; perceptiveness, strength, inspiration, awakening talents.
Amber: Soothing, calming, cleansing.

Coral: Diplomacy, quieting emotions, visualization.
Fossil Stone: Accomplishments, improvement of one’s environment, communication, innovation.

Howlite: Awareness, calm, emotional expression, observation, patience, eliminating negativity.
Jaspers: Protection, nurturing, joy, awareness; balancing of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual energies.
